A trawl through old newspapers revealed that some RGS masters played cricket for local sides in the 1930s.
Here's an item from the Bucks Examiner of 1 July 1938...
It shows HG Brand, TE Hood, CM Haworth and FGH Hearn playing for Misbourne against Chesham. Not too successfully but note that the much-admired former head of Classics Kit Haworth took a splendid 8 for 35 with the ball.
I've had a look round old newspaper for my old form master Kit Haworth and he was a regular cricketer for his old school, Pocklington, his Cambridge college, St John's, as well as Misbourne in the 1930s.
