Hi Tony,
It's Gerard Gilbertson again briefly< - re possible addition to names on 1955?) cross country team photo.
1. I think this may in fact be later than 1955....season 56/57??
2. Names. I confirm captain centre front Pete Dean, and centre back row Slatter. To Slatter's left is Mick Hussey. Far left back row is "Ginger" Currell. I'm pretty sure far left front row is Alan King (later tragically drowned on a School trip to Germany). I know all the other faces, but can't put a name to them!!!
3. This is essentially the squad that won the Southern Counties AAA cross country champs in (I think) 57/58, held in Great Windsor Park, started by Duke of Edinburgh. I've looked on the appropriate website, but results are only listed as far back as 1960. This was NOT a schools meeting, but the championships of all athletic clu8bs in the Southern Counties. I think this was a victory never ever repeated by a school.
Pete Dean also later won the All England Senior 1 mile championship on the track.
