West of England C.U. Easter Congress, Weston-super-Mare (March 30 to April 3, 1972). The total entry of 103 equalled the previous best. The prizes went to -
Championship (6-round Swiss; 20 competitors). - (1) A R B Thomas 5/6; (2) Dr J M Aitken 4; (3) D A LeMoir 4; (4) D M Wise 4; (5) M J Staples 4; (6) M E Binks 4; (7) G Wolfarth 4 (the sum of opponents scores were used to split the tie). A great success for the winner - now in the veteran class - who scored his sixth win in this event.
