Appleby-Frodingham Whitsun Congress.—The tenth annual congress, which attracted a total of seventy-three players, resulted as follows—

Premier.—(1) J. E. Littlewood 3½; (2-3) M. J. Haygarth and O. M. Hindle 3; (4) R G Wade 2½; (5) B. H. Wood 2; (6) J. H. Beaty 1.

Premier “A.”—(1-2) D. M. Denison and M. Binks 4; (3) M. A. Haigh 3½; . . . (fourteen competitors).

Premier “B.”—(1) M. Jackson 4½; (2-3) G. Renison and M. J. Conroy 3½ . . . (twelve competitors).

First Class “A.”—(1) M. P. Littlewood 4½; (2) D. Watmuff 3½; (3) R. Boxall 3; . . . (ten competitors).

First Class “B.”—(1) A. Cockcroft 4½; (2) J. W. Atkinson 4; (3) Mrs. S. Steedman 3½; . . . (eight competitors).

Second Class.—(1-2) M. Poutney and P. R. Lowe 4; (3-5) A. Audas, P. Taylor, and H. Beer 3½; . . . (thirteen competitors).

Junior Class.—(1) R V. M. Hall 4½; (2) I. Jarvis 3½; (3-6) J. W. Hall, D. R. Pilsworth, W. J. Smith, and R. Stocks 3; . . . (ten competitors).

Forty-two players took part in a lightning tournament which was won by O. M. Hindle, in front of (2-3) D. M. Denison and R. G. Wade.
